Hearty Beef Tarana

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup water

  • 1 chicken breast

  • 1 Sachet Tarana Mix

  • 1/2 cup water (for soaking the Tarana)

  • 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 garlic clove, minced

  • 3/4 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1/2 tsp dried mint

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil, then add the chicken breast. Cook until tender, remove the chicken, shred it, and strain the broth.

  2. In a bowl, mix the tarhana with 1/2 cup of water and let it soak for 30 minutes.

  3. In another pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft. Add the tomato paste and cook until fragrant.

  4. Pour in the chicken broth and stir. Add the soaked tarhana and bring it to a boil, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.

  5. Once the soup has thickened, add the shredded chicken and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  6. Serve hot, garnished with dried mint.

Tips:

  • Soaking the tarhana ensures a smooth, creamy texture.

  • Slow-cooking the chicken brings out the full flavor of the broth.

  • Stir constantly to prevent the tarhana from clumping and to achieve a silky consistency.

  • A sprinkle of dried mint enhances both the aroma and the presentation of the soup.
